Star Reading for a Young Poet
The full head of her blazes
in the light, words not pouring
but on fire, so that the sun
seems dim. Undiscovered,
still-incandescent stars orbit,
spitting flame around her shoulders,
allow the poem within,
written and unwritten,
coolness and dispassion
before her mouth opens
and all that was molten
on her tongue has the form
of a future already in orbit.
