Dívali jsme se na město.
Cihelna, nádraží, kostel, fabrika.
Kouř splýval s nebem.
Kousek pod námi děti pouštěly
draka, divoký vítr jím smýkal.

Řeklas mi:
„Po čem se nám stýská?
Chceme,
co možná není."

Obrysy jemněly šerem,
v domech se rozsvěcela okna.
Klopýtali jsme o kamení
cesty, my jeden, my oba
duší a tělem obtíženi.

We gazed at the city from above.
The brickworks, station, plant and church.
The chimney smoke merged with the sky.
And down below kids flew a kite,
tossed about in the wind.

You said:
"What is it we're nostalgic for?
Do we want
what perhaps isn't there?"

The falling dusk made contours soft,
and windows lit up one by one.
As one we stumbled over stones
both burdened by body and soul.
