Poetry reading and conversation: Donald Adamson & Mike Horwood: ALL WELCOME There will be a poetry reading on Thursday 4 December at 12.15, in Liikunta L304. The readers are Donald Adamson (former lecturer at Jyväskylä) and Mike Horwood (Tampere University). Their themes will include love, identity, home and leaving home, perceptions and misperceptions. The event will include a conversation on different versions of poems – what works and what doesn’t work. Examples will be given as handouts or on screen, with some translations into Finnish. Donald Adamson: from Scotland, now living in Tampere. He co-founded the Scottish arts magazine Markings. In 1999 he won the Herald Millennium Poetry Competition. Collections: From Coiled Roots (2013), A Landscape Blossoms Within Me (from the Finnish of Eeva Kilpi; Arc Publications, September 2014). Mike Horwood: based in Tampere, Mike has published a translation of Martti Hynynen´s poetry collection, island, nameless rock, and two collections of his own, Midas Touch and Falstaff's Gut. He has also published two novels, The Finn's Tale and Arthur's Eventful Weekend. He has a PhD in Creative and Critical Writing.
