Ali Alizadeh Iran

Ali Alizadeh was born in Iran in 1976 and migrated to Australia at the age of 14. He began writing in English in 1997 and received his PhD in Professional Writing from Deakin University, Melbourne in 2005. He has since taught writing and literature at universities in Australia, China, Turkey and United Arab Emirates, and is now a Lecturer in Creative Writing at Monash University, Melbourne. He is the author of six books including the collections of poetry Ashes in the Air (University of Queensland Press, 2011) and Eyes in Times of War (Salt, 2006); with Ken Avery, a book of translations of ghazalyaat of Attar from Farsi to English, Fifty Poems of Attar (re.press, 2007); the novel The New Angel (Transit Lounge, 2008); and the work of creative non-fiction Iran: My Grandfather (Transit Lounge, 2010).
