Martin Sorrell taught French at Exeter University, since when he has run courses for the Workers’ Educational Association and elsewhere. His published translations include Verlaine, Rimbaud, Lorca and Apollinaire for OUP World’s Classics; Elles, an anthology of modern French poetry by women, for Exeter University Press; Words Have Frozen Over (poems by Claude de Burine) for Arc Publications; three Molière comedies for Nick Hern Books.

Among Sorrell’s features and plays for radio, The Glass Man won the 2006 Mental Health Media Award for best radio drama.
