Rimvydas Stankevicius Lithuania

Rimvydas Stankevicius was born in 1973 in Elektrënai and graduated from the Philology Faculty of Vilnius University with a master's degree in Lithuanian literature. Since 1997 he has worked for the Respublika daily as a news reporter and in 2001 he hosted the TV show A Cultural Trap.

He made his debut as a poet in the annual poetry anthology Spring of Poetry in 1993 and his verse has subsequently been published in literary magazines, anthologies and newspapers. His first collection of poetry, An Eye, was published in 1996.

Stankevicius' poetry has been translated into Polish, Swedish, Finnish, and English and has appeared in numerous anthologies abroad. He has also written lyrics for over twenty rock songs and in 2002, with the composer Rokas Radzevicius, he produced a rock opera Jurata and Kastytis. At present, he lives in Vilnius.
