Sergei Timofeyev was born in Riga on 13 November 1970. He studied Russian literature at the University of Latvia, and works as a freelance translator, copywriter and journalist. Since 2000, Timofeyev has been the co-ordinator of the multimedia project Orbita which involves poetry, music and video art.
He is author of three collections of poetry in Russian: The Dog and the Scorpion (1994), Memoirs of a Disc-jockey (1996), 96 / 97 (1998) and one bilingual (Russian / Latvian) book Almost Photographs, 2003. His poems have appeared in literary magazines in Latvia, Russia, Italy, Australia and the USA, and in anthologies, including This Same Sky, Four Winds Press (1993).
