Thomas de Waal

Thomas de Waal is a writer, analyst and translator. Born
in 1966, he studied Russian and Modern Greek at Oxford
University. He worked as a journalist in Russia in the 1990s
and since then has written four books about the Caucasus and
its conflicts. Since 2010 he has worked for the think-tank the
Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington
and London for which he regularly writes about Eastern Europe.
