I too am devastated by the news that Arc's funding is to be cut from 2012 - surely a journal of modern poetry in translation does not equate to the publishing of quality books from around the world which introduce poetry in translation to a wider audience. I was under the impression that widening audiences was one of ACE's key criteria. Furthermore, Arc's commitment to its international list provides work for poets as translators.
As a poet published by Arc's UK list, I am extremely concerned that the contraction of publishers of poetry will inevitably make it more difficult for writers to publish.
