I would like to say how much I respect and admire the consistently fine work done by Arc Publications in publishing original, varied, and high-quality poetry. Arc recently produced a handsome volume of my translation of The Book of the Snow by the late Belgian poet François Jacqmin for its Visible Poets series. This series plays a particularly important role in disseminating the work of international poets in translation. Jacqmin's noted collection, first published by Editions de la Différence in Paris in 1990, is thus now available to English-language readers in an appealing and accessible bilingual form. Format, text, and design of the volume are very good, and I appreciate the professionalism and courtesy of the publishers in their dealings with me.
Arc occupies a special niche in British literary publishing and given its reputation for quality products is, in my opinion, richly deserving of continued financial support.
