I cannot imagine a more valuable artistic resource for this country to have than Arc Publications and it seems we are quite prepared to throw it away. I know times are hard but this is just wrong.
This excellent small publishing house has a wonderful record of achievement in bringing us the best original work in English and the best foreign poetry in translation, the books beautifully designed and produced. Its editors have knowledge, taste, judgement, experience and boundless enthusiasm. We are very lucky to have them and Arc, and it will be a crying shame if we don't facilitate them
to the very modest extent required.
